⁴ᴷ Saitama: Higashi Omiya Station (埼玉県: 東大宮駅) – Japan Walking Tour (September, 2024)
On the substitute holiday for the Autumnal Equinox, I visited Higashi-Omiya Station in Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. The place names in Saitama City can be quite confusing, and Higashi-Omiya Station is a good example. It isn’t exactly east of Omiya Station, and it’s located in Minuma Ward, not Omiya Ward. There’s also an interesting fact that the station was initially planned to be named “Suna Station,” likely because the area is historically referred to as “Suna.” You can still find signs of this with places like Suna Danchi and Suna Central Park in the vicinity. I wonder why the name “Suna” was chosen originally.
